His own younger brother, jealous of his position and hungry for the shogun’s favor, betrayed him, leading shogunate soldiers into the clan’s fortress in the middle of the night.
You’ll find small clues scattered across the northern mountain that piece the rest of his story together: a torn clan banner, a child’s carved wooden doll, and half-burned letters between Soma and his wife talking about their plans to move the clan to safer land after the rebellion. Many players miss that his attack patterns directly mirror the trauma of his death – he uses the same broken blade his brother used to execute him, and his scream attack is the same cry he let out when he saw his children killed in front of him. - Visit the abandoned Soma clan shrine at midnight in-game, and leave an offering of 10 pieces of wild salmon, which you can catch in the frozen river west of the shrine. You can’t use farmed salmon from the village markets for this offering, it has to be caught wild in the mountain river.
